Transparent Bimaxillary Osteotomy

Hush! Nobody will find out about your surgery! Transparent bimaxillary osteotomy is a perfect way to keep it a secret. The absorbable pins firmly fix the bones while they are growing back together. And after that, pins dissolve leaving no evidence that the bimaxillary (two jaw) osteotomy was ever done.

What is transparent bimaxillary osteotomy?

It is a bimaxillary osteotomy (two jaw surgery) in which absorbable pins are used to fix the fractured bones. Unlike titanium fixation pins, absorbable pins are dissolving as bones are growing together, leaving no evidence that the surgery was ever done.

Absorbable Fixation Pins vs. Non-absorbable Fixation Pins

The fractured bones must be firmly and tightly fixed after they were moved to the proper position through bimaxillary osteotomy.

The existing titanium pins and screws do not cause any harm to the body but can be identified through the X-ray.

However, if the absorbable pins and screws are used for the fixation, they will slowly merge with the bones and finally disappear without a trace.

Thus, it does not require a secondary surgery to remove pins and screws, therefore reducing the financial and psychological burdens.
Furthermore, this way the surgery leaves no traces of the pins even in X-ray images, CT scans and during airport security checks.
View Plastic Surgery provides the patients with the option of choosing either the absorbable pins and screws (osteotrans) or titanium pins and screws.
However, the final decision on whether to use the absorbable pins is made during the consultation.

Special Features of VIEW’s Transparent Bimaxillary Osteotomy

NO NEED TO REMOVE PINS
There is no need to have another surgery for pin removal after the bimaxillary osteotomy because the pins will disappear as time pass.

ENHANCED SAFETY
The pins are safe because they begin to be absorbed after the bones completely grow back together after the bimaxillary surgery.

ABSORBABLE PINS
The pins are absorbed into the bones and leave no trace of the surgery in X-ray images or CT scans.

FIRM FIXIATION!
The absorbed pins and screws are made of an even mix of OSTEOTRANS™ synthetic polymer(PLLA) and bone components(u-HA).
The product has bone conduction (osteoconductive) function which helps to generate new bone tissues in the fractured areas after the surgery. Because the product is absorbed into the bones as they grow back together, it helps to firmly fix the bones in place.
